The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnewi chapter has yesterday, cried out that Igbo governors are secretly donating lands in their respective states for RUGA, saying that IPOB will never allow that to happen. The group also alleged that all the antagonistic activities of Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State are aimed at his ambition of becoming Vice President of Nigeria in 2023.

IPOB also alleged that Umahi is a mole in Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, working for All Progressives Congress, APC, and urged him to be bold enough now that his unwarranted attacks against IPOB is clear and his second term seat secured, to declare for APC. IPOB, in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said:

“We are in to know that Igbo governors have secretly donated lands in their respective states for RUGA, which IPOB will never allow regardless of how many of us die in the process of defending our land.

“Governor Umahi’s purported ban of IPOB activities in Ebonyi State is an exercise in futility, as it became dead on arrival following IPOB’s strong base in the state.

“Governor Umahi’s purported ban of IPOB activities in Ebonyi State was not the first time he made pronouncements that were not obeyed by Ebonyians, as he has in the past issued a Fatwa against our leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and boasted that IPOB rally would never hold in Ebonyi State but it held.

“Umahi boasted to his fellow IPOB antagonists that our leader will be shot at sight if he dares enter Ebonyi State.

But Kanu entered the state and Umahi and his co-travelers went into hiding because of the mammoth crowd that followed him on the streets of Abakaliki.

“Since the successful outcome of our peaceful protest and rally in Abakiliki against RUGA settlement in Ebonyi State, Governor Umahi and his government have become paranoid, no doubt acting on the instruction of his northern handlers.”

The Department of State Services and the London Metropolitan Police Service have been petitioned to investigate the documents said to have been obtained from Cambridge University and presented by President Muhammadu Buhari at the presidential election petition tribunal.

According to TheCable, it said that it obtained copies of the separate petitions dated August 14, 2019, which were forwarded by Kalu Kalu Agu, a Nigerian lawyer.

Abba Kyari, the president’s chief of staff, had told the tribunal that he obtained the President’s ‘assessment’ documents from Cambridge University.

He was quoted as saying he personally signed for and collected the documents on behalf of the President.

The UK-based examination body oversaw the conduct of final year secondary school examination in Nigeria and placement into foreign universities in the 1960s.

In the two petitions forwarded by Agu, the lawyer questioned the authenticity of the ‘certifying statement’ said to have been obtained from the Cambridge Assessment International Education.

He asked the UK police and the DSS to launch an investigation into the circumstances leading to the procurement.

“Requested that his passport be handed over to him” and also “refused to subject himself to preliminary medical checks.”

The Shiites leader and his wife Zeenat left Nigeria for India on Monday for medical check-up aboard Emirate flight EK786 at about 6:45 pm en route Dubai to Mumbai, India.

According to the unions, the contending issues include payment of earned allowances, University Staff Schools matter, renegotiation of 2019 FGN/Unions agreement among others.

“At the expiration of the 14-day ultimatum, Sunday 18 August 2019, without a positive response from the Federal Government of Nigeria, members shall proceed on a 5-day warning strike in all Branches from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd August 2019.

“You are, therefore, directed to properly mobilize our members for this action. All defaulting branches shall be sanctioned accordingly. Please be guided,” the letter reads.

The Non-Academic staff Union of Universities had earlier planned for a nationwide protest on July 15 ahead of an indefinite strike over the failure of the federal government to implement its agreements with them.

Meanwhile, Joint Action Congress(JAC), University of Jos branch, had given the Federal Government a two-day ultimatum within which to meet their demands or face a five-day warning strike.

Mrs Esther Ezeama, the chairperson of the union, gave the ultimatum during a news conference on Thursday in Jos.
