Barcelona fc have signed Bordeaux winger Malcolm for a whooping sum £36.5M following a deal breakdown with Serie A aside Roma who initially wanted signing him.
The young Brazilian who is just 21 sealed a five year deal with Barca.
Roma was at the verge of signing Malcom as they already made an announcement on Monday saying they had reached an agreement with Bordeaux prior to medical and other terms. Though Roma’s sporting director said no agreement was signed yet. He wrote on Roma’s website saying “Early this morning I spoke with Malcom’s agent, Fernando Garcia, who had a meeting with Bordeaux planned at 12pm to confirm everything was in place for the player to travel to Rome in the evening.
“After that I was surprised to be told that the agents and Bordeaux wanted another improved offer, as Barcelona were still pushing for a deal. I told them enough, because we did not want to enter an auction.
“It is true that nothing was signed, but there are many messages with the agents and their president that are at least worth being assessed.”. Malcom’s medicals is scheduled for Wednesday at the camp Nou.
The young star is yet to be featured at Brazil’s national level, but he ha had an impressive performance for Bordeaux in their Ligue one games by scoring 20 goals with 13 assist in 84 appearances.
